FAQs
I am concerned about the safety of my driver whilst
sleeping overnight in his cab?
Fit lokgards to the cab doors and install a gas alarm inside the cab. Lokgards
offer additional security as well as peace of mind for the driver, giving him
or her a better nights sleep. The gas alarm will warn of any attack by etheric
gas
How long does it take to fit a set of lokgards?
It takes 5 to 10 minutes to fit them at time of purchase. Fitting time after
that is less than a minute.
Will I have to drill a hole in my cab?
No. On some models you will need to change an existing
screw or add a small tab – which we supply, but
no drilling is required. Use of lokgards will not affect
the warranty on your vehicle.
Do I have to lean out of the cab window to lock the
device before going to bed?
No, this is an additional security product, or door lock
and handle cover. You fit it with the door open when going
to bed, and simply shut the cab door behind you, locking
the cab door from inside as normal.
Can I use lokgard when I leave the lorry unattended?
Yes, put the lockable unit in place with the door open,
close the door, push the locking bar in place, lock and
remove the key.
I need a set of lokgards. How long will it take you
to deliver?
If we have the item in stock then we can send on next day
delivery if ordered before 12 noon. If stock levels are
low or for a large volume order, delivery time can be up
to 21 days. We always do our best to get them to as quickly
as possible, especially if you have a trip abroad and need
the additional peace of mind offered by lokgards.
Can I collect my order?
Yes, you can collect from our address in Warwickshire – Warwick
HRI, Wellesbourne, CV35 9EF. Or we can direct you to your
nearest distributor.
What do I do if I am not happy with my purchase?
As long as the item is unused and returned to us in good
condition, we will refund your money. However our customers
are always delighted with their lokgards and we have
only been asked for a refund on one occasion.
Can I become a re-seller of lokgard?
Yes – we are always happy to hear from potential distributors both in the
UK and throughout Europe. Please contact Nick Blake at Viper Guard. Tel 0870
190 0010 or email nickblake@viperguard.co.uk
I live in Poland. Can I purchase a set of lokgards
from Viper Guard?
Yes we can ship to anywhere in the world. If we have a
distributor in your country we will advise you of this.
You can call us on +44(0) 870 190 0010 or email sales
@viperguard.co.uk or buy online at www.viperguardproducts.co.uk
Can using additional security reduce my insurance
premiums?
Yes. Taking security of your vehicles seriously should
result in cheaper insurance premiums. We recommend that
your talk to your existing broker in the first instance
but if that fails please give us a call and we will arrange
for a free, no-obligation quotation.
I am concerned about risk of a gas attack?
Research such as the ROAD report, and the Danish report
on attacks on drivers show that this is a real threat.
We recommend that all cabs are fitted with a gas alarm. We
can supply a cost effective solution, which simply plugs
into the cigarette lighter, working on 12v and 24v. Gas
masks also available.
Should I carry out a risk assessment on my vehicles?
A drivers cab is his or her place of work and you are required
to carry out a risk assessment. Reports such as ROAD
2003 confirm that there is an identifiable risk which
you should include in your risk assessment. By providing
additional door security products such as lokgards, and
also a gas alarm you will have provided a solution and
therefore complied with Health and Safety regulations.
What guidelines are given by the government?
Please visit http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/documents/steer-clear-truck-theft06 where
you can download a copy of the Home Office document “Steer
Clear of Truck Theft”.
What additional security measures
should I take to protect my customers’ goods whilst
in transit?
We suggest additional door security for both cab and trailer.
You may also want to consider tracking device on both the
trailer and within the pallets or goods on the trailer.
If the trailer is left unattended then the Red & Black
Coupling lock/airline lock can be simply pushed onto the
male coupling to secure the trailer and prevent unwanted
movement. Alternatively you can consider a king pin lock.
I want to ensure that trailers on the loading bay
are not accidentally moved during loading?
We can supply a cost effective solution with the Red & Black
coupling lock/airline lock which simply pushes onto the
male coupling on the trailer to secure it against unwanted
or unauthorised movement.
My diesel consumption figures seem high and I am worried
that it is being stolen.
We recommend that you fit an anti-siphon or anti-fuel theft
device. There are several models on the market.
All of them will protect your fuel once the level is below
the depth of the device. However there are also devices
available which will protect all the fuel in your tank.
The decision you make will depend on your budget and also
the reason why you are concerned about fuel theft. If you
feel it is an internal problem then consider the Impregnable
devices. However if you are looking for good basic protection
against fuel theft, and have a limited budget, then the
standard devices are more than adequate.
I have just bought a new van and want to use additional
security on the doors.
You could consider Armaplate – an easy to fit plate
which will secure your van doors; the Repeller or Slamlocks
are a good alternative. Ask yourself if you want the device
to be discreet or obvious to a thief?
I have just won a contract to carry dangerous goods.
What do I need to comply with regulations?
You should visit http://www.hse.gov.uk/cdg/index.htm for
an overview and also details of the classes of dangerous
goods http://www.hse.gov.uk/cdg/classes.htm
A full copy of the regulations http://www.hse.gov.uk/cdg/regs.htm and http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/cdg.pdf
This is a detailed document and must be read with care.
We can help you with items under section 8.1.1. 8.1.3-8.1.5

and dimension of the wheels;
